How to choose your Uzbekistan trip?

Duration determines the scope covered. In one week, you focus on Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara, connected by the Afrosiyob train. On a 13 to 17 day format, you add Khiva and a night in a yurt near Lake Aydarkul, which makes up the classic Silk Road itinerary. For a trip of 18 days or more, you include the Fergana Valley to the east or Karakalpakstan and the Aral Sea to the west, sometimes both with a few domestic flights. Regional combinations are built around your interests: Timurid architecture, living crafts, desert landscapes.

Different types of trips

Our cultural circuits delve into Timurid sites, the miniature workshops of Bukhara, the silk factories of Margilan and encounters with ceramicists and weavers. Adventure itineraries add stages by 4x4 in the Kyzylkum, one or two-day treks in the Nurata mountains or the foothills of the Tian Shan, and the descent to Moynaq. For family trips, we pace the days with shorter stages, silk paper workshops in Konigil, and yurt nights that work really well with children from 7 years old.

What is the best season?

Spring, from April to mid-June, remains the ideal period: 22 to 30°C during the day, orchards and steppes in bloom, clear skies. Autumn, from September to late October, offers similar conditions plus bustling bazaars laden with melons and pomegranates. We avoid July and August, when Bukhara and Khiva often exceed 42°C, making visits to madrasas gruelling. Winter, from December to February, attracts travellers seeking deserted sites, with a special light on snow-capped domes, provided you accept below-freezing temperatures.
